For internationals

Personal injury in the Netherlands? We handle your case in English.

Dutch law governs your claim because the accident happened here, but our team works with you in English from intake to settlement. International employers and insurers are familiar territory.

Living and working in the Netherlands as an international means navigating Dutch law in your second or third language. After an accident, the language barrier can feel like a second injury. ZAAKR handles your case in English from the first call to the final settlement, while applying Dutch personal-injury law in your favour. Whether you are an expat with a global employer, a researcher on a temporary contract, an EU citizen working at Brainport, or a non-EU employee on a knowledge migrant permit, your rights under Dutch personal-injury law are the same as those of Dutch nationals.

Juridisch onderscheidend

Wat is voor uw situatie anders.

Dutch law applies, language does not block your claim

If the accident took place in the Netherlands, Dutch personal-injury law applies regardless of your nationality, residency status or employer location. The five-year limitation period, the statutory duty of care for employers, the fifty-percent rule for cyclists and pedestrians: all apply equally to internationals.

International employers and insurers

Many internationals work for global firms with policies underwritten by foreign insurers (Lloyd's, AIG, Generali, etc.) or by Dutch branches of international groups. We have experience coordinating with international claims handlers and translating between Dutch civil procedure and English-language insurance correspondence.

Onze aanpak

Hoe wij uw zaak voor u regelen.

  1. 1

    English-language intake within 24-48 hours

Our advocate visits you for the intake within 24 to 48 hours on working days, conducted in English. The full conversation is in your language; we explain Dutch legal concepts as we go. Subsequent communication runs through our secure case portal, available in English.

  2. 2

    Coordination with international insurers

We file the liability claim with the at-fault Dutch insurer in Dutch (legal requirement) but conduct parallel correspondence with your home-country insurer in English. Coverage overlaps are clarified up front to avoid double-recovery or missed claims.

  3. 3

    Documentation in two languages

Medical reports, witness statements, accident records: we work with the documents as they are. For settlement decisions you receive an English summary explaining the Dutch original. You always know what you are signing.

  4. 4

    Repatriation scenarios

Planning to leave the Netherlands during or after your case? We continue the procedure in your absence. Settlements are paid to a Dutch or foreign bank account at your preference. The case does not require your physical presence in the Netherlands once the file is built.

Veelgestelde vragen

Antwoorden voor uw situatie.

Yes for our communication with you (intake, file updates, advice). Formal court filings stay in Dutch because the Dutch procedure requires it, but we translate or summarize each piece for you. You will never be asked to sign something you do not understand.
